MONEY AND OTHER THINGS TO CARRY    
Personal Expenses in Tibet

  • Indian Rupees are not accepted in Tibet. You will have to take Chinese Yuan which can be exchanged in Nepal on arrival.      

What kind of items to carry while travelling?

  • You have to take warm clothes like sweater, trousers, thermo-coat, monkey cap, trekking shoes, high-neck,gloves etc.

What do you provide us for the tour?

  • We provide a Waterproof Windcheater Jacket, a Duffel Bag, a Bag Pack, a Cap and a Passport Holder to every members as a souvenir gift from our company. You do not have to return these items after returning from Kailash.

Can we use Indian Currency in Tibet side?

  • No, the currency that is used in Tibet side is Chinese Yuan. For exchange of Chinese Yuan You can contact us on arrival on Kathmandu.

What sort of clothing and accessories is suggested for the Trip?

  • As the Kailash Mansarovar is at high altitude the climate is cold so it is recommended that you have warm clothes with you, thermo coat, monkey cap, comfort shoes, masks, walking sticks, sunscreen lotions, sun glasses are also recommended accessories for the trip.

GROUP SIZE

How many people in each group?

  • Our group size is minimum 25 person for Helicopter and Overland tour. The group can reach 35 – 50 members in  each group but can be more during Full moon trips.

Can we have our own Departure Date and Group?

  • Yes, you can pick your own departure date if your group have more than 20 persons in a group for Helicopter package and 25 persons for Overland Package.

AGE LIMIT

  • Age limit is 69 years old for Indian Passport Holders as per the current rules and regulations. For Non-Indian Passport Holders there is no age limit till date. However, we do not recommend travelers above 80 years old to join for the trip.

MOBILE PHONE AT TIBET

Mobile Phone: How to keep in touch with our friend & family during the trip?

Nepali sim card doesn’t work at Tibet side but there will be shops at the phone center on the way to Kailash Yatra. You
can take your mobile with you and buy a sim card there to call your family and relatives.

FULL MOON

There are several reasons why yatris choose Full-Moon:

  • Festivals in Tibet happens during Full Moon (especially Saga Dawa Full Moon Festival: the holiest day in Tibetan Buddhism)
  • Full-Moon in Mansarovar: Many Yatris prefer doing puja during the Full Moon (Purnima)
  • Many want to see beautiful view of full moon over Mount Kailash
  • Prefer doing Kora during Full-moon

TIBET TRAVEL BUREAU (TTB) & FEC

We are an authorized agent of Foreign Exchange Center of TAR (FEC)

  • FEC (Foreigh Exchange Center of TAR) has a monopoly over the rights to handle travel arrangements & fix rates for the Indian pilgrims in Tibet side.
  • FEC has recently increased rate because of the international petroleum price rises suddenly, US dollar largely depreciation, the cost of domestic labor’s goes up, and commodity prices are rising
  • All arrangements within Tibet are solely at the discretion of the China Tibet Tourism Bureau (TTB) & for Indian nationals, Foreign Exchange Center of TAR (FEC), both are government organizations, and we have no control over the quality of vehicles or facilities.
  • TTB can deny permit or even stop giving permits from time to time. We have seen this in the past.

FOOD AND CLOTHING

What type of Food and drink will be provided there at Tibet?

  • The food provided will be hygienic and pure vegetarian. The local water will be provided for drinking water. You can also purchase mineral water bottle at Tibet side.

FITNESS AND HEALTH

What kind of fitness is required?

  • You have to be physically fit for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. It is recommended to get a medical checkupbefore you plan to go for this religious journey. But it is not mandatory that you have to submit the medical checkup certificate. People with back pain may have problem during the trip on the jagged road. People with asthma or allergic to dust are strongly recommended to wear mask on the dusty road. Besides these people are recommended to practice walking and do exercise and yogas for the physical fitness.

 


Itinerary


Day 1: Arrival Lucknow & transfer to Nepalgunj

Morning arrival in the lucknow station or airport and receive by our driver then transfer to Nepalgunj. Reach in the hotel and refresh. In the evening, our tour manager will brief you shortly about trip program. Today you have rest & relax day in Nepalgunj. Dinner in the hotel. Overnight Hotel Kalptaru or similar * Lucknow to Nepalgunj: approx. 4.5 hrs drive * Bus or Jeep (A/C) will be facilitate for transfers between Lucknow & Nepalgunj

Day 2: Fly to Simikot (by aircraft) & to Hilsa (by helicopter) then drive to Taklakot

Very early morning, you should be ready to go to the airport for your flight to Simikot. Normally, the flight leaves for Simikot at around 6.00 am, if there is a clear weather in all places (Nepalgunj, en route and Simikot). Delay by an hour OR two is quite normal in this sector. So, passengers are requested not be panic. The flight requires about an hour to reach Simikot. Our representative in Simikot will assist for completing immigration formalities and then arrange charter helicopter to fly Hilsa (Nepal border), our local representative in Hilsa will receive you and escorted to his house (tea shop). Here, you have to halt until all group members arrive. Travelers are requested to have patient and let us arrange everything smoothly because we have to wait our Tibetan guide to come border to receive us along with all permit and military formalities which may takes few time to receive us. Then after we cross border to Tibet and it takes about an hour to reach Taklakot (Purang - 3700 m.) by drive from Sher (China border). Overnight Hotel Himalaya (triple sharing room with attached bathroom). * Nepalgunj to Simikot: 1 hour (by Twin otter aircraft OR Dronier aircraft with 18 seats) * If the weather is not good in Simikot OR en route to Simikot, the flight will be canceled * Simikot to Hilsa: 15 minutes by B2 (Euro copter) Helicopter with 5 or 6 seats * Hilsa to Sher trek: 10 minutes * Sher to Taklakot drive: 1 hour by bus

Day 3: Acclimatization Day

Today you will rest in Taklakot (Purang) for acclimatization with light walking around Taklakot town to adjust your body with Tibet climate. Overnight Hotel Himalaya (triple sharing room with attached bathroom)

Day 4: Drive, Purang to Lake Manasarovar (Chiu Gompa) – 4560 m

Early morning (after breakfast) you will depart for Lake Manasarovar (4560 m- Chui Gompa). On the way, we will take a short break in Rakshas Taal (Lake Ravana) to see the breathtaking views of Rakshas Taal with back ground view of holy mount Kailash. Pilgrims can take holy dip and perform homage to Mt. Kailash & Manasarovar as per their own religious way in Lake Manasarovar. Overnight Guesthouse OR similar (all dormitory room)–Dharamsala type with Tibetan toilet * The distance of Manasarovar circumambulation: 72 km / 3 hours * Taklakot to Lake Manasarovar: 2 hours

Day 5: Yama Dwara Darshan then start trek to Diraphuk (4920 m)

Morning drive to Yama Dwar (OR Serson, 10 kms / 4750m), the auspicious gateway to the Parikrama (circuit) around the Mt. Kailash. Yama Dwar is the place, from where the group, normally, splits in two parts. Some members will start attempting Parikrama and some will return back to Darchen and wait for those members who have gone for Parikrama. MEMBERS WHO JOINED PARIKRAMA: You will start trekking from “Yama Dwar” to Diraphuk. The trail is quite easy & flat. You have to cross the river a couple of time, other than this, it is quite easy day today. Roughly, you will be crossing 14 km today and it takes around 5 hours. MEMBERS WHO DIDN'T JOIN THE PARIKRAMA: After having Darshan from Yamadwar, you will be returning back to Darchen and wait for those who have gone for Parikrama. Overnight Guesthouse (basic accommodation with dormitory bed room) * Lake Manasarovar to Darchen - 1 hour drive * Darchen to Yama Dwar: 30 minutes drive * Yama Dwar to Diraphuk trek: 5 hrs (approximately 14 km)

Day 6: Trek to Zuthulphuk (4780 m) via Dolma La Pass (5600 m)

MEMBERS WHO JOINED PARIKRAMA: Early morning start uphill trekking to Dolma-La (5600 m). Today is the toughest day of this journey. The entire trail up to Dolma-La rapidly up. The holiest water pool (glacial lake – Gauri Kunda) is just situated beyond the Dolma-La. This is the lake, people believe, where Parvati, the consort of Lord Shiva takes bath. From Dolma-La the trail rapidly drops down to the valley floor (Zuthulphuk). After making downhill trek to the valley (the next side of the high pass), the trek up to Zuthulphuk Gomba requires another two hours. From the valley floor, the trail is flat all the way to Darchen. Today, you will be crossing approximately 22 km in 8 to 9 hours time. MEMBERS WHO DIDN'T JOIN THE PARIKRAMA: Waiting in Darchen. Overnight Local Guesthouse (basic accommodation with dormitory bed room) * Diraphuk to Zuthulphuk Gomba: 8 to 9 hours trek (approximately)

Day 7: Finish Trek near Darchen & Drive back to Purang and continue exit to Hilsa

MEMBERS WHO JOINED PARIKRAMA: Today, you will complete your trekking (Parikrama), near Darchen the trek period will be about 2 hours for 11 km distance and in the end trek where you will find our vehicles waiting to fetch you and transfer to Purang (2 hours journey). In Purang (Taklakot), all group members will be gathered and having quick lunch, you will transfer to Sher border accompany by Military offier. After customs formalities, you will exit to Hilsa (Nepal Border) by crossing Suspension bridge of Karnali River. In Hilsa, your overnight stay will be very basic in local lodge with simple meals. Overnight Guesthouse - basic dormitory room * Zuthulphuk to trek ending point: 2 hours walk - 11 km (approx.) * Trek ending point to Purang: 2 hours drive by bus * Purang to Sher drive: 1 hr * Sher to Hilsa trek: 10 min

Day 8: Fly, Hilsa – Simikot (Heli) – Nepalgunj (fixed wing aircraft) - Lucknow

In early morning take breakfast and be ready for Helicopter flight. Our Hilsa representative will assist you to board in Helicopter from Hilsa then brought back to Simikot. Upon arrival in Simikot our Simikot representative will meet you and will manage continue flight to Nepalgunj. Similarly, you will receive by our Nepalgunj representative and will manage for your onward destination to Lucknow as per available transportation at earliest possible. * Hilsa to Simikot: 15 minutes flight by Helicopter * Simikot to Nepalgunj: 1 hour flight by aircraft * Nepalgunj to Lucknow: 4.5 hours drive Tour Finished !!
